I'm a specialized expert focused on helping organizations achieve impact through effective mediation, peacebuilding, monitoring, and evaluation.

I am a Mediation and Peace Building Specialist and an International Consultant with over 15 years’ experience providing inclusive mediation support, facilitating dialogue, capacity building, leading research, advisory and technical assistance on peace-building processes with regional organizations, UN agencies, Research, and Policy Institutes and Universities in Africa.

The history

16+ years of experience

For the last 16 years, as my research portfolio grew, I took on more roles in project management and coordination. With project management, it was not just about leading teams and conducting research and publishing it, there was also the impetus for better project planning, managing for results, measuring change, and reporting on the results.

Soon my research experience collided with monitoring and evaluation. It was not just about generating new knowledge but also about change, results, what was working, what was not working, and why. With my research experience, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) was a smooth flow. With time, I was supporting my team, organisation as well as our partners put in place better systems and tools to help them plan, monitor, measure, report and disseminate the results from their projects.

I support organisations develop their M&E systems by developing of simplified tools and templates that can be understood by anyone in the organisation. Acknowledging that there is an existing M&E skills gap in organisations, I conduct M&E capacity building through training, technical assistance, onsite and remote support as well as through mentoring and coaching. I do not just develop tools to tick the box, I support projects implement them and make contextual adaptations as we go along.

Being a firm believer in utility focused M&E, I believe that each M&E initiative data should be used for something. We do not just collect data for example, we use the data for something, ranging from learning from it, building partnerships with it, for advocacy purposes or for meeting donor obligations. In 2020, with the pandemic ravaging the world, I have knowledge and practical in advancing remote M&E practices and has knowledge conducting data collection remotely using different platforms.
